"You saved my life, honey. If you hadn't called me that day, I wouldn't have made it through the day. It was a miracle that you called my son after talking to me." On a routine call to one of our oxygen patients, Darla realized that Mrs. B of Reno, NV was struggling and that she didn't even know it. So Darla called Mrs. B's emergency contact, her son. Within the hour, Mrs. B was in an ambulance. A month later, when Darla finally got through to Mrs. B again, Mrs. B expressed her gratitude, "Thank you so much and thank everybody there!"
Fernanda Silveira
Patient Care Coordinatoor
Modesto, California
Patient Care Coordinator, Fernanda, rang the doorbell of the wrong home. But, 93 year-old Maria opened the door gasping in Portuguese. Quickly, Fernanda contacted her Portuguese-speaking coworker, Sandra. Sandra translated to Fernanda - Maria was having a heart attack. Quickly, Fernanda called 911 and stayed with Maria until she was taken care of at the hospital. But that was not enough. Fernanda went above and beyond, explaining to the hospital the conditions Maria was living in alone and contacting the county health department to find help for Maria. Thank you, Fernanda.
